Spurs agree £85m deal to sign Man City's Savinho

Savinho, who is 22 years old, will now have a medical check before agreeing to a long-term contract with Tottenham. His transfer to north London has been in the works for over a year, and Tottenham had previously tried but failed to sign him last summer. Savinho chose to stay at the Etihad Stadium, but he didn’t get much playing time under Pep Guardiola last season, making only seven Premier League appearances.

Tottenham’s head coach, Roberto de Zerbi, has already spent a total of £185 million on midfielders Mateus Fernandes from West Ham and Sandro Tonali from Newcastle, and now wants to improve the team's attacking options. However, Tottenham probably won’t stop spending here. According to BBC Sport, talks about signing Omar Marmoush, a teammate at City, are moving forward. Marmoush, who joined City from Eintracht Frankfurt for £59 million in 2025, didn’t get much playing time last season.

Tottenham is also still interested in Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo, but it’s not clear if they can afford to buy him along with Marmoush and Savinho. Savinho’s move will push Tottenham’s summer spending over £300 million, although the club has already made around £140 million from selling Cristian Romero, Djed Spence, and Luka Vuskovic.
